I don't have to pay extra; you get Times Select free if you're a subscriber. And it never ceases to amaze me how passionate folks are about newspapers. When I was a reporter for a local paper in Massachusetts, I ran into people who viewed my employer as some view an uncle who's the town drunk, or the guy convicted of molesting a child. I love The Times, despite its myriad faults. It's like part of the family, I guess.
